A certain number of comp or complimentary tickets may be held for the artist or promoter’s friends, family, or special guests at a concert. The amount of comp tickets should be specified in the original agreement for the concert booking because this will impact the total number of tickets that can be sold.
The term comp is also sometimes used in merch sales to refer to items that were given away for free.
